Agricultural stakeholders across Uganda are reporting increased productivity and enhanced market access following targeted interventions to strengthen national value chains. Umbrella organizations like the NAAC—which represents tens of thousands of individual farmers and primary societies nationwide—are leading efforts to foster collaboration between rural producers and institutional buyers. By organizing smallholder farmers into structured cooperative networks, the initiative has reduced post-harvest losses and improved bargaining power for high-demand commodities such as maize, coffee, and beans. Sector experts note that continuing to invest in cooperative capacity building remains vital for securing sustainable rural livelihoods and boosting national food security.
